The Information Technology department is responsible for the provision, development and maintenance of information systems, networks, operating systems and technical infrastructure to support the operational and management needs of Horse Racing Ireland, the Racecourse Division, Tote Ireland and Irish Thoroughbred Marketing. The department comprises of a Technical Services Helpdesk, Racing Operations Support and an Applications Development section.
Technical Services Helpdesk
The Technical Services Team is responsible for the development and ongoing operation of the HRI Technical Infrastructure in a secure and efficient manner. This involves the development and maintenance of the local and wide area networks, the provision and support of email and internet services, support of the server and desktop environments and the timely resolution of user problems and requests. The team also provide solution procurement and implementation services.
Racing Operations Support
The Racing Support team are responsible for development and operational support services to the Racing Administration System (RAS). The RAS system supports the day to day running of Racing in Ireland. It includes the management of Registrations (Horse Naming, Owners, Colours, Trainers, etc), Entries and Declarations, Race Planning, Race Publications and Communications, Minitel/Web Private network administration, and Racecourse Services. The system also supports all the financial transactions related to Racing such as fee handling and allocation of prize money.
Applications Development
The Applications team is responsible for the analysis, design, development and support of custom systems. These include the HRI Group web sites and reporting systems.
