The Irish Form Book is the official record of racing in the 32 counties. It lists the results of all races held in Ireland between 1st January and 31st December each year.

Published on a weekly basis, the Irish Form Book gives comprehensive results of races up to and including the previous Sunday of each week and also those races held abroad in which Irish-trained runners competed.

The result of each race is listed giving details as to where each horse finished, the distance between each horse, the rider, the weight carried, including whether the rider claimed any allowance or put up over-weight. The type of ground that prevailed on the day and the time it took to run the race are also highlighted.

Also included is whether blinkers, tongue straps or cheek pieces were worn. The handicap rating each horse is running off is recorded as are the official explanations for any non-runners or late withdrawals.

The Irish Form Book carries the total betting figures for each race, both with the on-course bookmakers and the Tote, the official starting price (with betting trends) of each horse and Tote returns where appropriate.

Central to the Irish Form Book are comments in running. These comprehensively detail how each horse ran in a particular race, carefully describing its position in the race as it unfolded. The aim is to include anything which may have affected a horse’s performance, whether it made mistakes in jumping, was hampered in running or failed to secure a clear run at any stage.

The Irish Form Book is available from the Publications Department in Horse Racing Ireland on an annual subscription basis. There are two options available for subscribers - The Irish Form Book on its own or the Irish Racing Calendar and Form Book as a package.
