Galway Action
Galway Racecourse

Racing in Galway isn’t only about the seven days in the summer, as this three-day meeting is always popular amongst racegoers. While the summer festival may be a bit hectic for some, this more relaxed meeting shows Ballybrit in an all together different light that suits many racegoers very well. There is plenty of action to be enjoyed both on the Flat and over jumps, with the highlight of the National Hunt action being the Guinness Handicap Chase, which takes place on the middle of the three days. The 2010 renewal saw the Charles Byrnes-trained Alfa Beat take the spoils on his way to winning the Kerry National later in the season. The Listed Oyster Stakes on the third and final day is the highlight of the Flat action and the 2010 renewal was won by the Charlie Swan-trained Rajik. The Festival, which has been a huge success over the years, offers entertainment, excitement and great value for money.
