Limerick racecourse caters for steeplechase, hurdle and flat races throughout the year and is home to the famous Munster Grand National.
Quick Facts About The Limerick
Limerick racecourse opened in October 2001 to a record crowd of 18,000. It is the first purpose built racecourse in Ireland for 50 years and has exceptional modern facilities in the Hugh McMahon Stand. Greenmount Park is the seventh different location for racing in Co. Limerick since the first recorded fixtures in 1790. It's predecessors were Bruff, Rathkeale, Newcastle, Lemonfield, Ballinacurra and Greenpark. The previous course at Greenpark closed in 1999 having held racing for 130 years. The present course is built on the site of a stud farm 250 acres of which is occupied by the racecourse.
There are some great racing dates to enjoy at Limerick Racecourse in 2013. Limerick Racecourse has something for everyone this year. If you are organising a family reunion, hen/stag party, work do or just fancy trying something different then a day at the races is just for you.

Ready Teddy Go Family Fun day – 7th of April
Limerick races annual family fun day on Sunday 7th of April. New this year is a Teddy Bears dash on the main track from 1.30pm followed by lots of treats in our Teddy Bears Picnic. Great prizes for the winners of the dash and prizes for a fancy dress and colour competition too. Other free entertainment include cinema club, bouncy castle, face painting, petting farm and on site playground.
National hunt racing to include the Hugh McMahon Memorial Novice Chase and the Kevin McManus listed Bumper. Big screen viewing of the Heineken Cup Quarter Final when Munster take on Harlequin – admission only €10 if you wear your Munster Jersey

Student Raceday – Thursday 11th of April

Twilight Season June & July
June sees the start of our Twilight Racing so great bands and mouth watering BBQ's to enjoy.

The racing action kicks off at 5:30pm with 7 races played out in a fast paced format, matched by plenty of entertainment off the track once racing finishes, live music till late! Twilight Racing evenings are ideal for staff outings, corporate entertainment, hen or stag parties or just a group of friends looking for something different.
Ladbrokes Munster National & Ladies Day – 13th of October
Top prize on the day is a diamond ring to the value of €4,000 kindly sponsored by Keanes Jewellers for the best dressed lady. New this year is the Best Hat competition with a bespoke headpiece from Aisling Maher Milliners. The celebrity judge on the day will be Suzanne Jackson from So Sue Me-Blog.

Limerick Christmas Festival Horse Racing Festival 26th to 29th December 2013
4 day festival of racing action, to include The Greenmount Novice Chase on St Stephen’s day. Ladies day competition on the 28th of December and Greenmount Grotto for family fun on the 29th. 4 Day Festival pass @ €50 receive admission for each of the 4 days of the festival.
A reserved table in the Panoramic Restaurant onthe 2nd floor of the Hugh McMahon Stand offers first class cuisine to groups of all sizes in a modern setting. Enjoy your own reserved table and stunning views of the track, with superb menus to whet your appetite. The restaurant has full bar and Tote facilities. The Panoramic restaurant can hold a private party for 450 guests. However, the corporate suites along with the Panoramic Restaurant can also be amalgamated to cater for 700 guests.
Limerick Racecourse offer a special Owners & Trainers Package for the Panoramic Restaurant. Special package includes a reserved table and lunch from €30 per person for the connections of a horse running on that day.
On the 3rd floor the Private Corporate Suites can accommodate groups of up to 100. Standard packages include deluxe catering, private bar and exclusive Tote access. Individually tailored packages can arranged for all groups.
There are many sites of archaeological interest in the area, including King John's Castle in Limerick, and many opportunities for horse riding, golfing, fishing and sight seeing.
