Ship Of Dreams finds the right path in Navigation Stakes

Ship Of Dreams earned herself a deserved return to the winner’s enclosure with an all-the-way victory in the Listed Navigation Stakes at Cork.

Joseph O’Brien’s filly has run some tremendous races in defeat since opening her account at Dundalk in January, placing at Listed and Group-race level on several occasions.

The daughter of Lope De Vega was last seen finishing a close-up fourth in the Group Three Lanwades Stud Fillies Stakes at Gowran Park less than three weeks ago, and was the 15-8 favourite for her latest assignment under Wayne Lordan.

Fitted with blinkers for a second time, Ship Of Dreams was soon bowling along at the head of affairs and it was clear some way from home that her rivals were struggling to bridge the gap.

Aidan O’Brien’s once-raced maiden winner North Face came home well to fill the runner-up spot, but was two and a quarter lengths behind the eventual winner at the line.

Lordan said: “It is nice to get her head in front. She stays well and the plan was to make the running and it’s a nice track to do that on.

“She is very game and has been unlucky and been on the wrong side of a few photo finishes, but today worked out nicely.”
