Willie Mullins and Ruby Walsh in double delight at Clonmel

Chambord Du Lys provided Willie Mullins and Ruby Walsh with a quick double at Clonmel.

The daughter of Great Pretender was not unduly troubled in landing odds of 1-4 in the Clonmel Maiden Hurdle despite a less than fluent leap at the last flight and she scored with a little in reserve to record a six-and-a-half length verdict over Monbeg Chit Chat.

Earlier Kate Appleby Shoes got off the mark for the Closutton handler in the Demesne Mares Maiden Hurdle.

Ruby Walsh's mount had been placed on both her previous hurdles outings having returned from an enforced absence over the festive period and appeared set for minor honours again when Awayinthewest swept by her before the final obstacle but she battled back to prevail by a head.

Mullins said, "She was unlucky the last day but it was nice to get it today. I think she's alright now and has enough experience and I'll wait for better ground with her.

"She's able to handle that ground and win on it at that level but to improve she'll want better ground. I wouldn't think she'll run in the mares' novice at Cheltenham."
