Daily Racing Previews of all Irish Meetings
Nap of the meeting – Queluz
5.20 – Sirici - Irish
Stallion Farms EBF Race – Win
Sirici was a cosy winner over the course and distance on her second start and might just win again. She readily accounted for tonight's rival Spirit Power here two weeks ago and her 5lbs penalty might not prevent her from upholding the form. Spirit
Power is of course entitled to improve as he was having his first run that night. Newcomer Mount Wellington didn’t come cheap but he will need to be smart enough to make a winning debut against more experienced rivals.
Exacta – 3-4
(Sirici/Spirit Power) Trifecta – 3-4-2 (Sirici/Spirit Power/Mount Wellington)
5.55 – Strategic
Heights - Dundalk Stadium business Club 2017 Claiming Race – Win
Strategic Heights might put it up to early favourite Rivellino. He is a fairly consistent sort and was a winner over the course and distance last month. He has done reasonably well in two starts since and looks a fair alternative to Rivellino
which appears to be out of form and is without a win since February of last year. Master Bond wasn’t beaten all that far over the course and distance last month and might just be third best again here ahead of Complicit and Arlecchino’s Rock.
Exacta – 7-1 (Strategic
Heights/Rivellino) Trifecta – 7-1-6 (Strategic Heights/Rivellino/Master Bond)
6.25 – Brave Display
- Hen & Stag Parties At Dundalk Stadium Handicap – Win
Brave Display drops back in trip as runs in his first handicap and he could be the answer to this. He was competing for the first time since October when runner-up to Hailstone over seven furlongs here last month and might well come on for that. There looks
to be little between Olly’s Folly and Buddha Boy on a run here behind Lady Rosebud in January but the latter might come out on top in that battle over this shorter trip. Fox Dream is another dropping back to this distance and won’t be far away judged on her effort behind Alfredo Arcano here in January.
Exacta – 6-4 (Brave
Display/Buddha Boy) Trifecta – 6-4-1 (Brave Display/Buddha Boy/Fox Dream)
6.55 – Shake The Bucket
- Dundalk Stadium Light Up Your Night Apprentice Handicap – Each/Way
Shake The Bucket is due a winning turn at a track where he has won on eight previous occasions. He scored over the course and distance twice last year and recent efforts behind tonight’s rivals Six Silver Lane and Repare Mon suggest there is plenty
of life in the 10-year-old yet. He raced from the worst of the draws when sixth to the latter last time out and meets that same rival on far better terms here. Repare Mon went on to win over two miles here earlier this month and remains a leading hope along with Six Silver Lane which won over a shorter trip here in
March and lost little in defeat behind Locus Standi last week. The draw has certainly gone against Ruby Gates on this occasion and both Settle For Red and Tropic Thunder could pose greater threats.
Exacta – 9-7 (Shake
The Bucket/Repare Mon) Trifecta – 9-7-3 (Shake The Bucket/Repare Mon/Six Silver
7.25 – Harbour
Beacon - Irish Stallion Farms EBF Median Auction Maiden – Win
Harbour Beacon showed plenty of ability on two runs last season and is taken to make a winning return. He went close on his debut when runner-up to Finn McCool on his first start at Navan and just lost out again two weeks later when second to Perfect
Storm at the same course. Sir Danilo has had three runs this year and easily ran his best race when second to Asking over a mile here at the end of last month. He could yet pose a greater threat to the selection than Shahroze which reappears having finished second to Drake Passage here in November. Detailed is
certainly another to look out for.
Exacta – 2-5
(Harbour Beacon/Sir Danilo) Trifecta – 2-5-4 (Harbour Beacon/Sir Danilo/Shahroze)
7.55 – Glastonbury
Song - Irish Stallion Farms EBF Race – Win
Glastonbury Song looks to have an edge at the weights and is the one to side with. He impressed when winning on his first start over seven furlongs here in September and didn’t do too badly at all when a moderate fifth of seven behind Orderofthegarter in a
listed event at Leopardstown on his seasonal bow earlier in the month. Asking had two starts last term and was a winner on her seasonal reappearance when beating Sir Danilo at the end of last month. That was a fair effort and she might have an advantage over Branch Line which was very well-touted before his wining
debut at Roscommon in June of last year.
Exacta – 2-3 (Glastonbury
Song/Asking) Trifecta – 2-3-1 (Glastonbury Song/Asking/Branch Line)
8.25 – Queluz - Crowne
Plaza Race & Stay Handicap – Each/Way
Queluz arrives here on the back of three promising efforts and his winning turn might just have arrived. He went close behind Six Silver Lane when second over the extended ten furlongs here last month and ran another big race when third to Locus
Standi and Six Silver Lane over the same distance last time. This is wide open and perhaps USA is a threat after his tremendous effort behind Elusive Approach over the course and distance while Lady J, Tom Dooley and Our Max also look to hold obvious chances.
Exacta – 8-3 (Queluz/USA)
Trifecta – 8-3-10 (Queluz/USA/Tom Dooley)
8.55 – Cresendo - Crowne
Plaza Race & Stay Handicap – Each/Way
Cresendo finally came good when winning over a mile here in mid-December and perhaps he is the one to beat as he runs for the first time since then. This drop back in trip is hardly a concern as he had finished runner-up to Lily’s Prince over
this distance earlier in December and had finished second over six furlongs here the previous month. Shelbe finished second over a mile here last month and dropped down to five furlongs to win here earlier in the month. Shabra Emperor was a good winner over the course and distance last month and certainly holds every
chance while Victorious Secret and Arbourfield can also be fancied on the best of their form.
Exacta – 12-11 (Cresendo/Shelbe)
Trifecta – 12-11-5 (Cresendo/shelbe/Shabra Emperor)
