From Kilmacow, County Kilkenny, Donagh Meyler rode his first winner when taking the Athboy INH Flat Race on the Tony Martin-trained Anibale Fly at Navan on March 1st, 2015. He quickly established himself as one of the leading conditional riders and struck up a rewarding partnership on the Karl Thornton-trained Colms Dream on whom he won five races. However, his first notable success came on the Gordon Elliott-trained Lord Scoundrel who won TheTote.com Galway Plate at the Galway festival on July 27th, 2016. It was his 30th career win. Donagh also won the JT McNamara Munster National on the Elliott-trained Tiger Roll in October 2016 and he rode out his claim when landing the Midlands National on Tony Martin's Phil's Magic at Kilbeggan in July of the following year. Donagh's biggest win came when he landed the €200,000 Paddy Power Chase at the Leopardstown Christmas Festival in 2017 on Tony Martin's Anibale Fly, the horse that gave him his first career success. Donagh rode his first winner at the Cheltenham Festival on the Gordon Elliott-trained Blow By Blow in the Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys' Handicap Hurdle in 2018.
