Adrain McAllister was on the mark with his first runner as a trainer when Dasheen won the Paulstown Handicap in the hands of Billy Lee at Gowran Park on May 23rd, 2017. It was a most poignant success as McAllister had taken over the training of the four-year-old from Lady Jane Gillespie who had passed away only days earlier. At the time McAllister said, "I'm delighted but sad at the same time. It was nice to get it but you couldn't write it - the boss is being buried tomorrow. It's going to be tough but that will ease it a bit."
