Take Tullyveery Lad to follow up at Tramore

Tullyveery Lad can add to his recent breakthrough success in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Maiden Hurdle at Tramore this afternoon.

The Ray Cody-trained five-year-old was in action for the first time since June when successful at Gowran Park two weeks ago and might just be the safest option. He only went up 8lbs in the ratings for his cosy five length success and is likely to remain competitive on his new mark.

The opposition is headed by the recent runner-up Paddy Wickla which is 3lbs ahead of the handicapper as she reappears. Auckland, runner-up at Punchestown two days ago, is among the early non-runners.

The Philip Dempsey-trained Broomfield Hall might just have the winning of the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Maiden Hurdle (2.02). She gained vital jumping experience when chasing home Party Central at Listowel last month, her first start since the Punchestown festival and could have the beating of John Kiely’s Shuil Valentine, an equally promising type but absent since the Easter Festival at Fairyhouse.

A chance is taken on the Declan Queally-trained Young Fitzy in the opening tramoreraces.ie Maiden Hurdle (1.00). He went well enough on his jumping bow here in August and again at Galway early last month.

The Edward O'Grady-trained Downthecellar is readily preferred in the Ardmore Handicap Hurdle (1.30). He was in with every chance when running out at the second last flight at Wexford and might be happier as he returns to a track he knows well. He rattled off four consecutive wins over fences, three of them here, before reverting to hurdles on a 37lbs lower mark last time. He can beat top-weight Coolnacritta which is 3lbs ahead of the handicapper as he turns out after winning at Fairyhouse last weekend.

Tisadream can make a winning start over fences in the Pickardstown Rated Novice Chase (3.12). She was successful over hurdles here in June and a clear round of jumping should see her home in front.

Champagne Sparkles is surely up to winning the Waterford Greenway Beginners Chase (3.47). He was certainly the best of these over hurdles and is probably unlucky not to have won a race before now. Blinkers are tried as he goes over fences for the first time.

Willie Mullins and Jody Townend should have the winning of the Copper Coast Ladies INH Flat Race (4.22) with Tempo Chapter Two. He just lost out on his debut for the stable when pipped at Listowel and it would be disappointing if beaten again this time.

Selections: 1.00 Young Fitzy; 1.30 Downthecellar; 2.02 Broomfield Hall (NAP); 2.37 Tullyveery Lad; 3.12 Tisadream; 3.47 Champagne Sparkles; 4.22 Tempo Chapter Two.
