• Killarney - Sunday

    Side with Seamie at Killarney

Comfortably the most valuable prize on offer at Killarney on Sunday comes in the Kelly Farm Modernisation Ltd Handicap Hurdle and perhaps Rock On Seamie can land the spoils for trainer Ray Hackett.

Good ground is certainly going to suit the seven-year-old which drops back in distance after filling the runner-up spot at Cork last time. He’d gone closer to adding to four previous career wins when taking third place behind Masterstonemason and subsequent winner Gotthenod over this distance at Limerick in March and that run, his first in five months, gives him a big shout here. Rachael Blackmore is a most notable booking.

The Dermot McLoughlin-trainedSanta Rossa is another coming down in distance and perhaps she will win the Easyclean Tourist Attraction Mares Hurdle (3.00). She lost little in defeat behind Darasso at Grade 2 level at the Fairyhouse Easter Festival and was previously a winner, on her first outing in a little over a year, when successful over a trip closer to this at Limerick in late March.

Max Flamingo ran a big race in the BoyleSports Irish Grand National and can regain winning ways in the Gerard O’Sullivan Memorial Novice Chase (4.00) which should be a far calmer affair. Francis Casey’s charge was less than nine lengths behind Lord Lariat at Fairyhouse and was earlier a winner when beating Bacardys cosily at Thurles. Grand Paradis was declared a non-runner for this race early on Friday afternoon.

Grand Paradis’ trainer Gordon Elliot might still have a winner over fences as Say Goodbye and Jack Kennedy certainly have their chance in the Donie Sheahan Irish EBF Mares Beginners Chase (4.30). The six-year-old is having her first start over the larger obstacles and while she comes here having been pulled-up in a Grade 1 hurdle at the Punchestown festival, her earlier effort when runner-up to her own stable companion Party Central in a valuable mares’ handicap hurdle at Leopardstown’s Dublin Racing Festival in February puts her on the shortlist.

Selections: 3.00 Santa Rossa; 3.30 Rock On Seamie (NAP); 4.00 Max Falmingo; 4.30 Say Goodbye.
