    Grade 1 JNWine.com Chase

The first Grade 1 chase of the National Season is the JNwine.com Champion Chase which is held at Down Royal in early November. Created in 1999, when it was won by Florida Pearl, it is the feature race of the two-day Northern Ireland Festival of Racing in late October or early November and is run over three miles. It has been a Grade 1 race since 2002 and has been won by many top-class performers, including Beef Or Salmon who won in both 2004 and 2006. Kauto Star is another two-time winner and Paul Carberry, who rode Florida Pearl to win the inaugural race, was back in the winners’ enclosure in 2014 when he won on the Noel Meade-trained Road To Riches. The festival also plays host to the Powers Irish Whiskey Chase, the EBF Lough Construction Mares Novice Hurdle and the WKD Hurdle.
