The first of the summer racing festivals, Killarney’s May meeting runs for three days and features a number of valuable events, headed by the Ladbrokes Ireland Handicap Hurdle of €50,000. The Killarney National Handicap Chase is another coveted prize while the richest race on the Flat is the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Race on the final day of the meeting.
The Killarney July Racing Festival is the centrepiece of the racecourse’s racing year and features the best of summer National Hunt and Flat racing. While the May Festival runs for three days, this meeting is a four day affair. The first three sessions are all held in the evening time while the final day’s racing takes place in the afternoon. The final day is also Ladies Day, guaranteeing a huge attendance. The Listed Irish Stallion Farms EBF Cairn Rouge Stakes is the feature event on the track while the Bourn Vincent Memorial Handicap Chase and the Bunkers Bar & Restaurant Handicap Hurdle are other races of note.
The August Festival brings down the curtain on the racing year in Killarney. Like the July Festival, the meeting runs to four days and the Kingdom Gold Cup Fillies Handicap is the richest race on offer. The Listed Vincent O'Brien Ruby Stakes and the MSL Cork Mercedes-Benz Handicap Chase are also fiercely contested.
