From Rosscarberry, County Cork, Brian Hayes started out as an amateur rider and rode his first racecourse winner on Grancore Girl at Clonmel in March, 2008. The partnership was back in the winners' enclosure 13 days later when successful at Limerick. Brian followed up on his first win as a professional on the Shark Hanlon-trained Ardglen at Listowel on September 23rd, 2011 with a second win on the same horse at Clonmel just two days later.
Brian rode his most valuable winner when partnering the John Kiely-trained Conduct Yourself to win the Easter Handicap Hurdle at Cork in 2017. Ancient Sands was another notable handicap hurdle success at Killarney a year earlier. Brian partnered the 'Shark' Hanlon-trained Hidden Cyclone to win the Grade 2 thetote.com Fortria Chase at Navan in November 2015.Â
