From Kanturk, County Cork, Killian Leonard rode his first winner on the Victor Clifford-trained Malicious Intent at Tipperary on August 27th, 2015. He rode on the pony racing circuit between 2010 and 2014 and partnered over 50 winners. He quickly established himself as one of the leading apprentices in the country and with 19 winners only lost out to Oisin Orr by a single winner in the apprentice title race in 2017. 

Killian rode his 95th winner and lost his claim when successful on the Jimmy Finn-trained Lleyton at Limerick on June 21, 2019.
