Ambrose McCurtin began his career as an amateur rider and gained his first winner when Keats Dream, trained by John Joe Walsh won a bumper at Cork on March 23rd, 2008. He went on to ride 20 winners before joining the paid ranks in December, 2015. His first winner as a professional came at Gowran Park the following month when he rode Page Turner to win a handicap hurdle, again for John Joe Walsh. Ambrose also rode 20 point-to-point winners.
