From Rathkeale, County Limerick, Conor is a son of trainer Eric McNamara and a brother of Epsom Derby-winning jockey Emmet.

He rode his first winner on Offshore Account, trained by his father, at Killarney on August 24, 2018. Conor rode his first double on the Gavin Cromwell-trained Top Of The Charts and Peaches And Cream at Clonmel on September 5 of the following year. 

The likes of Maze Runner and Ifyoucatchmenow (Willie Mullins), Charlie Stout (Shane Nolan), Lakemilan (Terence O'Brien) and Jukebox Jive (Gavin Cromwell) have been among the notable handicap winners that Conor has ridden.

Conor rode his 60th winner and lost his claim with success on the Shark Hanlon-trained Hallowed Star in the Adare Manor Opportunity Handicap Hurdle at the 2021 Galway Festival.
