From Garristown, County Dublin, Lisa is a daughter of trainer and former jockey Tommy O'Neill. Lisa had already ridden a winner in Britain when she landed her first Irish success in the Thalgo Ladies Derby on the Pat Flynn-trained Mon Champion at the Curragh in July, 2010. She won the same race on the Denise Foster-trained Miles To Memphis in 2017 and the Gordon Elliott-trained Batts Rock the following year. 

Closely associated with the Gordon Elliott stable for many years, the County Meath trainer provided Lisa with a notable success when Wrath Of Titans won the Guinness Kerry National Handicap Chase at Listowel on September, 2016. It was her first winner over fences and her 15th success under rules. At the time, she had six point-to-point winners to her name. Lisa was the second female rider to win the Guinness Kerry National; Katie Walsh won the race on the James Nash-trained Your Busy in 2014.

Lisa enjoyed a winner on the biggest stage of them all when landing the JT McNamara National Hunt Chase at the Cheltenham Festival on the Gordon Elliott-trained Tiger Roll on March 14th, 2017 and remarkably added a second Guinness Kerry National when successful on Potters Point, another trained by Gordon Elliott, at Listowel in September of the same year.

With 20 winners, Lisa was crowned leading lady amateur rider for the 2017/18 season and retained the title the following year with a haul of 27. Lisa won the title again for the 2019/2020 season which was cut short by the Covid-19 pandemic. 

She rode out her claim with a double at Laytown in September, 2018 where she partnered two winners for British trainer Jamie Osborne and the Melbourne 10 Racing syndicate, Waqaas and Florencio. 

Lisa rode her 100th winner, racecourse and point-to-point combined, when partnering the Gordon Elliott-trained Smooth Player to take the bumper at Galway in October, 2021.
