From Milltown, County Kildare, Cian rode a winner on his first ride when partnering the Willie McCreery-trained Sweetest Taboo to success in a five-furlong handicap at the Curragh on August 19, 2017. He was 16 years of age and a secondary school student at the time.Â
Cian moved to England the following year and rode eight winners before returning home to link up with trainer Ado McGuinness in November 2020. He rode his first winner for McGuinness on Eglish at Dundalk two weeks later. It was his fourth winner in Ireland.Â
