From Graiguenamanagh, County Kilkenny, Mikey Sheehy was 16 years of age when rode his first winner on the Paddy Rogers-trained The Lady's Bid at Navan on September 7, 2019. Mikey is a son of trainer Eamonn Sheehy and a brother of fellow apprentice, Danny.

Mikey rode 190 winners on the pony racing circuit and is apprenticed to Joseph O'Brien. His biggest success on the racecourse came at the Galway festival in July 2021 where he won the Colm Quinn BMW Mile Handicap on the Ado McGuinness-trained Sirjack Thomas. He gained his first Pattern race success when the Joseph O'Brien-trained Queenship won the Listed Navigation Stakes at Cork in September of the same year.
