From Newtownmountkennedy, County Wicklow, Shane rode his first point-to-point winner on the Shark Hanlon-trained Urban Legend at Stradbally on May 25, 2019 and was back in the winners' enclosure just 30 minutes later when successful on the Eamon Sheehy-trained Rudy Catrail. 

Rudy Catrail was Shane's first winner on the racecourse when landing a handicap chase at Wexford in September 2019 and the same horse provided him with four of his five winners on the track as an amateur rider. 

Shane turned professional in February 2021 and his first winner in the paid ranks came at Listowel in June of the same year when he partnered the Shark Hanlon-trained Woodbrook Boy to success in an opportunity handicap hurdle.
