Did you know:
Jessica Harrington is most successful female trainer at the Cheltenham Festival. She has long been established as one of the most talented dual-purpose trainers in the country. The horse that she will always be associated with is Moscow Flyer, one of the greatest two mile chasers of recent times. He was a high-class hurdler, winning three Grade 1 contests, but it wasn't until that he was sent over fences that he really reached his potential, winning 10 Grade 1 contests including a never-to-be-forgotten second victory in the Queen Mother Champion Chase at the Cheltenham Festival in 2005. She landed another notable Cheltenham success in 2014 when winning the Champion Hurdle with Jezki, ridden by Barry Geraghty. Success for the Robbie Power-ridden Supasundae in the Coral Cup Handicap Hurdle at the Festival on Wednesday, March 15th, 2017 saw Jessica become the most successful female trainer at Cheltenham with nine winners. And better was to come as she won the Timico Gold Cup two days later with Sizing John and rounded off the 2017 Festival with a win for Rock The World in the Johnny Henderson Grand Annual Chase. Robbie Power was in the saddle for all three 2017 Cheltenham winners and he partnered Jessica's Our Duke to success in the BoyleSports Irish Grand National at Fairyhouse on Easter Monday to following month. It was a first success in Ireland's richest National Hunt Race for both.Â
Jessica landed her first Classic success when the Colm O'Donoghue-ridden Alpha Centauri won the Tattersalls Irish 1,000 Guineas at the Curragh on Sunday, May 27, 2018. Harrington had won the Group 1 National Stakes in 2010 with Pathfork. Of her win with Alpha Centauri, Harrington said, "I'd put today on a par with winning the Cheltenham Gold Cup with Sizing John."
