From Lombardstown, County Cork, Eugene O’Sullivan is synonymous with point-to-point racing but has enjoyed no shortage of success on the racecourse. His first major success came in 1991 at the Cheltenham Festival where Lovely Citizen, ridden by his brother William and owned and bred by his late father Eoin, won the Christies Foxhunters Chase. Another Excuse was another notable winner when landing the Midlands Grand National at Uttoxeter in 1996 and closer to home, the likes of A Decent Excuse, Head Waiter, Time To Sell, No Messin', Tuba, and Teo Perugo have all been good winners for the stable. 

It Came To Pass bridged a 29-year gap for Eugene when winning the St James’ Place Foxhunter Chase at the Cheltenham Festival in 2020. This time his daughter Maxine, a leading point-to-point rider, was in the saddle as the 66/1 outsider scored a truly memorable 10-length success on jump racing's biggest stage. For their success, Eugene and Maxine were the recipients of the National Hunt Achievement Award at the Horse Racing Ireland Awards in December 2020.
