From Athea, County Limerick, Eoin McCarthy rode 26 winners as a jockey and began training under a restricted licence in 2011. While he saddled winners in the point-to-point field, his first success as a trainer on the racecourse came at odds of 40/1 when the Kevin Brouder-ridden Pound A Stroke won at the Templemore Handicap Hurdle at Thurles on November 2017. 

Eoin never rode a double as a jockey but he was responsible for two winners at Limerick on Tuesday, November 17 where Gearoid Brouder rode both Blanketontheground and Moonlight Glory to comfortable victories.
