Andrew McNamara comes from a well-established racing family, with his father and namesake being a regular visitor to the winner's enclosure as a trainer for many years. As a jockey, Andrew enjoyed plenty of success, notably on the John Murphy-trained Newmill which won the Queen Mother Champion Chase at Cheltenham in 2006 and followed up a month later in the Kerrygold Champion Chase at the Irish National Hunt Festival at Punchestown. McNamara retired on a winner when he partnered the 'Shark' Hanlon-trained Most Honourable at Tramore on August 14th, 2015 and immediately turned his attentions to training. He trained his first winner at Punchestown on May 14th, 2016 when Double Speak won the opening maiden hurdle in the hands of Robbie Power. He gained a notable success when Val De Ferbet landed the Grade 3 Dr Vincent O'Brien Centenary Chase at Cork on Easter Sunday, 2017.Â
