Did you know: 

From Finglas, James McAuley is based in Naul, County Dublin. He first took out his licence in 2006 and saddled his first winner in June of the following year when the Michael Darcy-ridden Ehsan was the winner of a maiden hurdle at Tramore. 

In early January of 2008, James landed his first notable success when the Darcy-ridden Gaspar won the Grade 3 Phil Sweeney Memorial Chase at Thurles. 

As on owner, James enjoyed significant success with trainer Denis Hogan but with the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, he began sending out runners in his own name once again and landed an early winner with Timemakesitfine in July 2020. It was his first winner in almost eight years. 

James enjoyed a terrific year in 2021 with 21 winners, 14 of them at Dundalk.
