Ballinrobe Racecourse is ideally situated in
a natural amphitheatre set before the picturesque vista of Lough Carra and
boasts an exceptional view of every stride. It has all you could ask for in a

With a history of horse racing stretching
back more than 230 years, Ballinrobe Racecourse has long had its fingerĀ on
the pulse of the Irish racing world. Horse Racing has been taking place at the
present venue since 1921 and prior to that at other locations around the town,
with Race meetings recorded as far back as 1774.
Ballinrobe Racecourse was named āRacecourse
of the Yearā in 2012 by the Irish Racegoers Consultative forum which highlights
the strides it is making with ongoing development and improvement to provide
racegoers with a thoroughly enjoyable experience.
The racecourse is host to competitive
Flat and National Hunt meetings. People might forget that it was at
Ballinrobe that Tiger Roll had his first win over fences, back in May of 2016,
in the McHale Fusion 3 Plus Beginners Steeplechase.Ā From 28 May 2019, the
race has been renamed as the āMcHale Tiger Roll Beginnersā Chaseā.ā Wicklow
Brave, 2016 Irish St Leger winner, made a victorious debut over in renamed
chase in 2019.Ā
Doranās Pride, a former Cheltenham Stayers
Hurdle winner and twice placed in the Cheltenham Gold Cup, won his first race
at Ballinrobe in 1993. Owned by Mayo man Tom Doran and trained by Michael
Hourigan he went on to win ā¬1 Million on the track.Ā Traverse, the horse
owned by the irrepressible Hector O'hEochagain and star of the series
"Only Fools Buy Horses" also won his first Irish race at Ballinrobe
in 2003.
