From Cahir, County Tipperary, Shane Crosse is a brother of fellow apprentice Nathan. He rode his first winner on the Adrian Keatley-trained G Force at Naas in April, 2018 and a second winner followed just two days later at Cork. Shane rode his first career double at Galway in September of the same year when successful on two horses trained by Joseph O'Brien, Elleanthus and Song Of The Sky.Â
With 27 winners, Shane was crowned champion apprentice for the 2018 season at Naas on Sunday, November 4. He good form continued when he rode the first treble of his career just five days later as the 2018/2019 Winter All-Weather Series began at Dundalk. Kiss For Luck and Too Precious were both trained by Joseph O'Brien while Ahundrednotout was a winner for trainer Johnny Feane. Too Precious was his final winner as a 7lbs claimer.Â
Shane rode his first Group winner when he won the Group 3 Renaissance Stakes on Speak In Colours for Joseph O'Brien at the Curragh on Saturday, September 28, 2019. The following afternoon, at the same track, he won the Group 3 Weld Park Stakes on the O'Brien-trained New York Girl and a third Group 3 race in the season came on the Joseph O'Brien-trained Degraves at Leopardstown in October.Â
Speak In Colours gave Shane his first Group 2 winner when landing the Weatherbys Ireland Greenlands Stakes at the Curragh in June, 2020.Â
Shane rode his 95th winner and rode out his claim when the Joseph O'Brien-trained Full Moon Magic won at Leopardstown on Friday, July 31, 2020. It was one of three winners he partnered at the meeting. Â
Shane's first Group 1 success came on the Joseph O'Brien-trained Pretty Gorgeous in the Fillies' Mile at Newmarket in October, 2020.Â
