From Shanagolden, County Limerick, Patrick Hayes trained from to 2005 to 2011 and renewed his licence in 2019. He had first winner with only his fifth runner when Homestead landed an amateur riders' handicap hurdle at Limerick in July, 2005.
His younger brother Chris, the country's leading apprentice at the time, rode Patrick's first winner on the Flat when partnering Keel Castle Maine to success at Ballinrobe the following year. Patrick has had point-to-point winners and also runs a pre-training business from his Curragh base.
Patrick scored a notable success when Flirting Lesa won the Bishopscourt Cup at the Punchestown Festival in 2019.
